Thanks to everyone who chimed in on the Spring film preview! I had so much fun writing it and I am already working on a first draft of the Summer preview.
Yesterday we cashed in our Christmas present from Steve’s Mom and drove up to Portland for the Blazers/Bulls game! After finding a parking spot near the Rose Garden, we trudged across one of the many Portland bridges in the pouring rain/freezing cold until we made it to Powell’s (the bookstore), where we stopped for warmth.
We wandered around for an hour or so while we waited for Steve’s friend, Lucas, to get off work. They were old (and I mean old) college friends and Lucas lives in Portland now. We ended up at a restaurant/bar in the Pearl District called Blitz for some pregamming. And by pregamming, I mean mostly just eating food. Lucas brought along his cousin, who was a total sweetheart, and their friend, Megan, also a sweetie.
We had issues deciding what to wear, since the Bulls and Blazers are the same colors!
I wasn’t really hungry, so I had a small side salad and a beer. Since our knowledge of beer extends about as far as Charlie Sheen can throw a hooker, we just let Lucas order a pitcher of whatever and we obliging drank. He ended up ordering a stout which immediately made me cringe in fear, but it turns out that it was really good!
After we ate and I managed to make it out of there, drunk as a skunk on one beer, we headed over to the stadium. Luckily we were able to get there early enough to watch the players warm up, which was pretty cool!
Unfortunately, my favorite player/athelet crush, Joakim Noah, was still out after having surgery on his hand. We got to see him looking longingly at me from the sidelines, though.
Oh, and if you haven’t figured it out by now, we were rooting for the Bulls. Steve is a Chicago native and he has turned me in to a fan over the past two years. I thank you for that, boyfriendman.
Unfortunately the Bulls looked horrible last night and ended up losing. No one except Derek Rose could make a dang shot and the Blazer’s LaMarcus Aldridge had a new career high in scoring. We couldn’t be all that upset, though, since the Blazers are another favorite team and we do have some hometown loyalty to them!
After the game we drove back in to the Pearl District area and hung out for a little while before calling it a night. Unfortunately the hour and a half drive home was torturous and we ended up having to switch between Steve and I driving three times in order to make it home without falling asleep. We finally crashed in bed at 1:30am.
As much as we would have liked to see the Bulls win (we have been to 2 away games and they have lost both!), it was a fun game! We are seriously looking in to getting Blazers season tickets next year!
